Manimahesh Lake is one of the few lakes in Himachal Pradesh, which is situated in the Himalayan ranges at a high altitude. This lake is always surrounded by snow-covered peaks as it is situated at about 4200 meters. Situated in the midst of the magnificently beautiful Budhil Valley, the lake is accompanied with towering Manimahesh peak. You can see the crystal clear water of the Manimahesh Lake from the peak.
The lake never runs out of water as number of small streams release water into it.. In summer time the snow melts and fills the lake. Since it is situated at such high altitude, it is still unpolluted. Most of the parts near Manimahesh Lake are untouched.
One more reason for the place’s purity is the devotional importance to it. The Gaddis believe that the Manimahesh Lake and the Manimahesh peak is the residential place of Lord Shiva. He displays his anger and displeasures by the means of blizzards and avalanches. Hence the place is a well-known pilgrimage for centuries together. The main festival celebrated here is Shivratri.
Another festival that is celebrated here is Manimahesh yatra. People from all parts of India come together, to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
The Manimahesh Lake seems to be truly a pure place due to the crystal clear water and crispy white snow. You can visit the mesmerizing place at any season through the year. Out of which summer time is the best at the snow layering is less during this season. You can see the lush green forests surrounding the place.
You can reach here by any route. Major spots such as Kangra, Shimla and Kullu are connected to the place. So get ready for an awesome experience to the Manimahesh Lake.
