Chail is a village located near Shimla. It is surrounded by the snow capped Himalayas and lush green forests. Summary
Chail was once the summer capital of the Maharaja of Patiala Bhupindar Singh. In the year 1891 Maharaja Bhupindar Singh had to bear the wrath of Lord Kitchener and was exiled. He was not allowed to enter this capital city of Shimla. Therefore, to take the revenge, Maharaja Bhupindar Singh decided to build a city better than Shimla.
To fulfill his desire the little village of Chail was chosen. This destination was ideal as the Chail hill was at an altitude of 2226 meters which was higher than the city of Shimla. This made the visibility of Shimla much easier. As a result a magnificent palace of the Maharaja was built in Chail. Since then this city has been popularly known as the summer capital of Maharaja Bhupindar Singh.
Chail has a pleasant weather and thus the tourists find it the best place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty. One of the main characteristic of this place is that during summer, the temperature of does not rise.
