Chail is a hill station located just 43 kilometers from the Shimla city in Himachal Pradesh. This village lies at an altitude of 2250 meters high above the sea level.

Chail is known as the summer capital of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. It was during his exile he decided to build a city which was superior to the Shimla. This picturesque hill station comprises of the three hills which are the Sadh Tiba hill, Rajgarh hill and the Pandhewa hill.

Chail has quite a few tourist destinations like the Palace Hotel, Maharaja’s Palace, Sidh Baba Ka Mandir, Cricket Ground and Chail Sanctuary. Sidh Baba Ka Mandir is one of the most famous religious destinations as several pilgrims visit this shrine.

This Mandir was actually supposed to be the residence of the Maharaja Bhupinder Singh’s Palace. The Maharaja then changed his mind and planned on to setting up a shrine. The most magnificent Palace of the Maharaja was built in the year 1891. This structure consists of beautiful furnishings and sprawling lawns, children park and sports facilities.

The Palace Hotel is another important tourist attraction which came into existence at the time of Bhupinder Singh’s Exile. The Chail Sanctuary was notified in the year 1976 and it covers an area of about 10,854,36 hectares. Another such important tourist destination is the Cricket Ground which was built in the year 1893. This ground is used to play Polo and is located at a height of 2144 meters.

Some of the other tourist destinations around Chail are Kurfi and Sadhupul. Kurfi is a very popular hill station which has the most attractive nature park and an exciting trek will lead you to the divine Mahasu Peak. Sadhupul is a small village which is located between Chail and Kandaghat. This village is one of the best picnic spots, as it has the over bridge over the Ashwani stream.
