Jammu and Kashmir is India's northernmost state that comprises of three regions namely Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and the Himalayan Mountains. These three states are contradictory in culture and topography. The State is also considered as the Heaven on Earth by most of the tourists.

Jammu and Kashmir is one of the popular tourist destinations in India. Jammu, the city of temples attracts several Hindu and Muslim pilgrims all round the year. Kashmir is well-known for its mountainous landscape. Ladakh which is popularly known as Little Tibet is famous for its snow covered mountains and the ancient Buddhist culture.

Ladakh is famous for Gompas or monasteries which are religious residents of the Buddhist monks. The largest monastery in Ladakh is the Hemis Gompas which is situated at a distance of 45 kilometers from Leh. Leh is the capital city of Ladakh. Leh is famous for river rafting, trekking, mountaineering and several outdoor activities like Polo, Archery, Jeep safaris and Yak safaris.
