The Gaumukh glacier is the source of the Ganga River and is held in high esteem by the devotees who do not miss the opportunity to have a dip in the holy waters of the river. They believe that a dip in the holy water of the Ganga would wash away their sins.

You can see the pilgrims and sadhus praying and meditating on the banks of the river. The trip then continues to Gangotri and ends at Rishikesh.
