Summary
Manali sanctuary is situated in the dense forest which is about 2 km from the main town of Manali. A dense foliage area of 3,180 hectares was declared as the Manali sanctuary on February 26, 1954, under the Punjab Birds and Wildlife Animal Protection act, 1993. Since then, Manali Sanctuary is a resident place for many wildlife species like leopard, Monal, snow Leopard, musk deer, brown bear and many more.
Tourists can also find rare species roaming in the glacier zone, especially in summer. Hence, the best time to visit Manali sanctuary is in-between October to February. The myriad flora consists of horse chestnut, Kali, walnuts, deodar, maple. The famous Dhungri Temple also lies here.
