Simbalbara Sanctuary in Himachal Pradesh

Simbalbara Sanctuary is situated in the Paonta Valley of the Sirmour District in Himachal Pradesh. This sanctuary bears striking dense Sal forests with grassy glades as is probably one of the most picturesque areas of Shiwaliks.

Simbalbara also has a Forest rest house which provides a stunning view of the valley and is well connected from Puruwala. This sanctuary has a great assortment of flora and fauna that attracts several photographers, adventure freaks, wildlife enthusiast and bird and animal watchers.

There are many wild species sheltering in this sanctuary and among them include Sambar, Spotted Deer, Chittal, Goral and many more. The best time to visit this sanctuary is during winter as one can come across several striking bird species in winter. There is also a walking track in this quite adjoining forest of Simbalbara. This sanctuary offers importantly picturesque and adventurous trekking tracks alongside the gurgling stream.

Simbalbara Sanctuary is one of the shining examples of the endeavors of the Tourism Department of Himachal Pradesh to conserve wildlife . . This forest of Simbalbara sanctuary is densely populated with several grassy glades and Sal trees.

To make most memorable trips of the scenic pleasure one should visit this sanctuary during the months of October and February. This sanctuary is accessible form the Dilgarh airport which is 87 kms from Nahan and the nearest railway station is about 63 kms from Nahan. The town of Nahan is well connected with roadways as well. Several taxis and buses are available from Chandigarh and Ambala.

Even regular buses are available from places like Manali, Haridwar and Delhi. Accommodation facility is also available at the Simbalbara Forest Rest House which is well connected by road from Puruwala. This Government controlled Rest House provides all the required amenities and services to the guests.
